Jaclyn Day: Wearing White to a Wedding (Or Not)
It’s almost wedding season! Marcia wrote a reply on this post about the dress being too white for a wedding and it got me thinking. When I posted it, it actually didn’t even occur to me that the dress was white. I saw it and thought “floral.” There are so many differing opinions about weddings…
Worth a read. I used to have a commenter who ripped me a new one every time I suggested wearing black to a wedding (too funereal, she said), and when I was getting married, I spent a LOT of time on wedding forums, and saw a lot of brides complaining about guests wearing dresses that were too pale or bridal.
I wouldn’t have minded if someone wore white to my wedding. Everyone knew who the bride was supposed to be. That said, there are a whole bunch of other colors out there, so I never understood why someone HAD to wear white to someone else’s wedding.
And FWIW I think that any of Jaclyn’s maybe dresses are fine for a wedding.
